Today started early as we visited the Temple Mount before going onto St George’s Cathedral. Both places were spiritual and I felt we joined to walk alongside those of faith. As at the Western Wall on the Jewish Sabbath we were welcomed by all. However on the Temple Mount a group of Jews were shouted at and the wall was a very visual barrier which created difference – the same history seen through different eyes.
We then travelled through wilderness to the Jordan and there along with a patch work of other Christian denominations in the muddy water we renewed our baptism vows – a wonderful Celebration of unity.
Here are two poems by two of the curates I travel with.

Difference: The Holy Land
Difference Difference in faith Faith is evident everywhere In clothes, in sounds, in structures In walls.
Walls that are prayered at Walls that separate Walls that cause fear and fighing Walls that cause safety and supervision.
Difference in living together Difference at the Western Wall Female and male Orthodox and reform Praying, reading and dancing.
God made difference Difference is beautiful. We make difference Difficult difference Impossible difference.
Difference is the incarnate God Difference of the Messiah to come Difference is the importance of the people.
Difference of faith in the same God Difference how we live our lives alongside others Impossible difference is all children know.
